Overview

Bench Watch is an NBA injury tracker. We do not require you to create an account. The app is read-only: it displays publicly available injury report data published by the NBA. This policy explains the limited data we collect and how we use it.

Data We Collect

Push notification token

If you enable injury alerts, your device’s Expo push token is stored in our database alongside the list of NBA teams you subscribe to. This token is used solely to deliver injury status notifications to your device. We do not link it to your identity, location, or any other personal information.

Injury report data

We fetch and store NBA injury report data from publicly available PDFs published by the NBA. This data contains player names, team names, and injury statuses. We do not collect any data about individual users beyond the push token described above.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • Name, email, or any personal identifiers
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers beyond the push token
  • Browsing or usage analytics
  • Payment information

How We Use Your Data

Your push token is used exclusively to send you injury status change notifications for the NBA teams you choose to follow. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties for any purpose.

Opting Out

You can unsubscribe from all notifications at any time by tapping the bell icon next to any team in the app, or by disabling notifications for Bench Watch in your iOS Settings. When you unsubscribe from all teams, your push token is no longer used and will be removed from our database on the next cleanup cycle.

Data Retention

Push tokens associated with teams are retained while you have active subscriptions. Injury report history is retained for up to 30 days for app functionality purposes.

Third-Party Services

  • Supabase — database hosting (supabase.com)
  • Expo — push notification delivery (expo.dev)
  • Vercel — API hosting (vercel.com)

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. No personal data beyond the push token is shared with any of them.

Children’s Privacy

Bench Watch does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
